Why Is Getting to Done So Important?
Scrum relies on rapid feedback loops, and high-quality, finished work enables better, more reliable stakeholder feedback. Reviewing incomplete work forces assumptions and reduces the usefulness of feedback.
Metaphor
Getting to Done is like wrapping an empty box and asking if the gift is thoughtful. The outside may look convincing, but the reaction will be based on assumption, not reality.
In Scrum, Done ensures feedback reflects the product’s true state, not a placeholder.
Meeting the DoD before requesting feedback prevents the pitfall of feedback rooted in assumptions.
